Washington, D.C. – Six lawyers in the Washington, D.C. office of Sidley Austin LLP are among the 33 lawyers elected to partnership in the firm. Effective January 1, 2012, the firm has 670 partners in offices in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. The new Washington, D.C. partners are Peter S. Choi, Intellectual Property Litigation; Elizabeth L. Howe, Accountants/Professional Service Firms Liability; Peter V. Lindsay, Food, Drug and Medical Device Compliance and Enforcement; Christopher M. Lyons, Energy; Quin M. Sorenson, Appellate; and Angela M. Xenakis, White Collar.

Peter S. Choi, 38, is a partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice. His practice focuses on pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent litigation.
Mr. Choi, formerly an associate, received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was an articles editor for the Georgetown Law Journal. He received his B.S. from University of Maryland. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Choi served as a law clerk to the Honorable Eduardo C. Robreno, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Elizabeth L. Howe, 34, is a partner in the Accountants/Professional Service Firms Liability practice. Her principal areas of practice include representing accounting firms and their partners and employees in investigations by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as individual and corporate clients in white collar criminal matters, government enforcement actions, internal investigations and complex civil litigation.
Ms. Howe, formerly an associate, received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School and her A.B., magna cum laude, from Harvard University. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Howe served as a law clerk for the Honorable Karen Nelson Moore of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Peter V. Lindsay, 36, is a partner in the Food, Drug and Medical Device Compliance and Enforcement practice. He has advised clients on a variety of FDA regulatory and enforcement issues, including issues related to post-approval promotional practices and manufacturing (cGMPs/QSR) requirements. Mr. Lindsay has also been involved in government investigations and internal reviews of healthcare companies involving issues related to alleged violations of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, the federal False Claims Act and other fraud and abuse provisions.
Mr. Lindsay, formerly an associate, received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Duke University School of Law, his M.A. from Duke University and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Brigham Young University.
Christopher M. Lyons, 35, is a partner in the Energy practice. He regularly advises oil pipelines, electric utilities and financial institutions involved in the energy industry. Recently, Mr. Lyons has represented oil pipelines in litigated proceedings at the FERC. Additionally, Mr. Lyons has advised oil pipelines on issues involving rates, capacity expansions and associated agreements and tariff policies. Mr. Lyons has also represented oil and gas producers in arbitration proceedings arising out of contract disputes.
Mr. Lyons, formerly an associate, received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Middlebury College.
Quin M. Sorenson, 34, is a partner in the Appellate practice. His practice focuses on federal appellate litigation, as well as complex commercial litigation at the trial level. He has successfully represented clients in a range of cases involving difficult questions of constitutional, statutory and administrative law, and authored or co-authored numerous briefs, motions and pleadings in state and federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mr. Sorenson, formerly an associate, received his J.D., summa cum laude, from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Dickinson Law Review. He received his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sorenson clerked for the Honorable D. Michael Fisher of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the Honorable Christopher C. Conner of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Angela M. Xenakis, 41, is a partner in the White Collar practice. Her practice involves representing individual and corporate clients in white collar criminal matters, internal investigations, government enforcement actions and complex civil litigation. Ms. Xenakis has experience in every aspect of pre-trial and post-trial activity, including discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations and appeals at both the state and federal level. She also has significant experience conducting internal investigations in both the U.S. and abroad.
Ms. Xenakis, formerly an associate, received her J.D., with high honors, Order of the Coif, from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where she served as Symposium Editor for the First Amendment Law Review. She received an M.B.A. and her B.S. from the University of Maryland.
