London – Sidley Austin LLP has been named “Market Facilitator of the Year” at the respected Trading Risk Awards 2012. The awards recognise companies that drive innovation and set a high benchmark of professionalism and achievement. Trading Risk is a leading publication covering the convergence of the (re)insurance industry within the capital markets sector. The “Market Facilitator of the Year” award was given to the Sidley team for being at the forefront in structuring innovative convergence transactions. Sidley acted on 15 of the 26 cat bond transactions last year, totalling more than $3.1bn in capacity. The judges acknowledged Sidley’s longevity in the convergence market and its flexibility in offering solutions, ideas and compromises to get deals completed. Sidley was also a finalist in 2009 and 2010 awards, and was the only law firm shortlisted all three years.
