Sidley established its first office in Asia Pacific in Singapore in 1982, and since then, has continued to build on and enhance its capabilities for regional and global clients. In February 2013, Sidley was one of only four firms granted a license to practice local law in Singapore under Singapore’s Qualifying Foreign Law Practice (QFLP) program. This is an exciting new phase of our development in Asia Pacific that will greatly benefit the firm’s clients who are expanding their business operations in the region.
The Singapore office serves as an important hub for transactions involving Indonesia and India, as well as Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Mongolia, China and Korea. The ability to provide both local and international law services will be of prime importance to our clients as they continue to grow their businesses regionally and globally.
Our team in Singapore provides multi-jurisdictional legal advice principally in the fields of capital markets; global finance, including bankruptcy, restructuring, structured finance, securitization and asset finance; mergers and acquisitions; international arbitration; investment funds; intellectual property, information technology, privacy, data security and compliance; life sciences; and energy and project finance. Several members of our team who are based in Singapore are listed as leading lawyers in their fields, including in the areas of capital markets and corporate/M&A.
