Acquisition and Disposition

Sidley’s Real Estate practice team represents developers, major hotel and resort investors and operators, financial institutions, corporations, opportunity and private equity funds, institutional investors, REITs, foreign governments and other investors in the purchase and sale of office buildings, shopping centers, multifamily residential properties, hotels and resorts, industrial sites, warehouses, manufacturing facilities and other commercial properties, as well as purchases and sales of equity interests and other investments in joint ventures, REITs, investment funds, utility companies and other entities that own real estate. These transactions may be structured traditionally as purchase and sale transactions or in more complex arrangements. They may include acquisitions of single-asset limited liability companies, limited partnerships or corporations, or even the acquisition of an entire real estate company with multiple real estate assets located in one or more jurisdictions.

We also negotiate property, hotel and asset management agreements and brokerage and leasing agreements, and advise our clients on the most beneficial way to structure their transactions. Many of these transactions involve seller financing, leasebacks and like-kind exchanges. In addition, we represent a number of clients in the acquisition and disposition of portfolio real estate assets and mortgage loans throughout the world.
