JACK R. BIERIG has been a partner at the firm since 1978. He has extensive experience in general representation of associations, antitrust matters, litigation challenging government action affecting health care providers, copyright, trademark and trade secret cases, and FDA matters. He has represented numerous associations and health care providers in government antitrust and health fraud investigations, in actions brought by the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, and in private antitrust cases. He also counsels clients on a wide variety of antitrust, association law, and regulatory issues. His principal clients include the American Medical Association, College of American Pathologists, The Liaison Committee on Medical Education, several certifying Boards, the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Association of Endodontists, the National Association of Realtors®, American Dental Association, CLSI, Entergy Corporation, Home Depot U.S.A., American Academy of Pain Medicine and the American Burn Association. He has written numerous articles for various publications, including Antitrust Health Care Chronicle, The Health Lawyer, Pathologist, American Bar Association Journal and the Loyola Law Journal, and the St. Louis University Law Journal. He contributed a chapter, “Antitrust for Physicians,” for the Physician’s Survival Guide, jointly published by the American Medical Association and the National Health Lawyers Association. He lectures widely on antitrust, association law, and health care regulatory topics.
Mr. Bierig teaches Health Law and Food and Drug Law courses at the University of Chicago Law School and the Harris School of Public Policy. He also founded their Center for Conflict Resolution. Mr. Bierig is recognized in Chambers USA 2012 in Antitrust. He has also been recognized in the 2011 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Corporate Law: Nonprofit Organizations and Charitable Giving, Health Care Law and Non-Profit/Charities Law, as well as being named Best Lawyer’s 2011 Chicago Health Care Lawyer of the Year.
