JILL CAIAZZO is an associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. She focuses her practice on regulatory and policy matters affecting international transactions.

Ms. Caiazzo regularly advises clients on compliance with a variety of domestic trade regulatory regimes, including U.S. export controls, economic sanctions programs, customs rules, and anti-boycott requirements. In this capacity, she assists companies develop compliance programs and interact with their regulators in the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security, Treasury, State, and Commerce. She also participates in investigations as part of internal audits and in response to government subpoenas.

In addition, Ms. Caiazzo represents both domestic companies and importers in antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings before the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. International Trade Commission, U.S. Court of International Trade and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Ms. Caiazzo also advises on the international trade and antitrust aspects of cross-border transactions. In this capacity, she performs due diligence, drafts disclosures and develops representations, covenants and indemnity provisions related to import/export operations. She also assists with the merger review process before U.S. antitrust authorities.

Ms. Caiazzo represents Sidley as a member of the Advisory Board of the Children's Law Center, the largest legal services organization in the District of Columbia providing comprehensive representation specifically on behalf of children. She formerly served as one of the co-chairs of the Washington, D.C. chapter of Sidley's Committee on the Retention and Promotion of Women.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Caiazzo served as a judicial clerk to the Hon. Richard W. Goldberg of the U.S. Court of International Trade. In addition to assisting on a variety of trade remedy and customs cases, she supported the Judge’s work as a visiting judge with the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second and Eleventh Circuits, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Previously, she also worked as an associate at a law firm in New York, where her practice focused on the regulatory aspects of international cross-border transactions. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Caiazzo was a management consultant in the area of government procurement. In law school, Ms. Caiazzo was the head of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Division of Georgetown’s Moot Court Board.
