Dallas
The Dallas office of Sidley Austin LLP is the only office in the firm that focuses exclusively on a single practice area: intellectual property. Our experience in intellectual property protection, litigation, counseling, and licensing extends across a wide range of technical disciplines. Our lawyers have experience in developing strategies to protect the products and services of our clients with patent, trademark, copyright and other intellectual property rights in today's competitive business environment. Representing clients in a broad base of technical areas provides the Dallas office with a depth of experience and resources to address virtually any client need or issue.
The Dallas office is renowned for its successes in the area of intellectual property litigation. To build on this record of success we look for talented women and men with inquisitive legal minds who desire to work in a team environment. The Dallas office strives to maintain an informal, collegial, and cooperative atmosphere for all of its lawyers.
We are committed to the professional development of each lawyer in the Dallas office. Because we are dedicated to helping you gain practical, hands-on experience and master new skills throughout your first years with the firm we offer the following:
- A firmwide new associate orientation program.
- A firmwide mid-level associate conference.
- Litigation skills training programs.
- Patent prosecution training programs.
- In-house programs including legal writing seminars, litigation skills, electronic discovery, assessing intellectual property valuations, due diligence and other such programs.
- Firm-paid CLE.
Associates also are provided with mentoring and training in the areas of practice development and pro bono matters. Many times associates participate in the preparation for and the presentation to prospective clients. Associates are encouraged to be involved in pro bono matters to both hone their counseling and litigation skills and to contribute to the community.
Because all of Sidley's offices take an interdisciplinary approach to representation, new associates have many opportunities to work with lawyers from other offices and practice areas. We schedule regular evaluations during which an associate can discuss his or her professional development and advancement toward partnership.
We encourage an open door policy for feedback between associates and partners. The goals are to provide an open flow of ideas and to build professional relationships.
