PHILIP J. CRIHFIELD is a lawyer with Sidley in their Chicago office. His practice includes licensing, technology transfer, outsourcing, computer, information resource, distribution, copyright, trademark, trade secret and patent matters. With a background in engineering, Mr. Crihfield is a registered patent attorney.

Mr. Crihfield has authored or co-authored published articles entitled “U.S. Intellectual Property Law Rights and Protection,” “Impacts of the Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights,” “Patents are Trumping Trade Secret Protection,” “Privacy? What Privacy.” He has served on the Advisory Board of the ITT Center for Law and Computers and has taught a course entitled Marketing, Public Policy and the Law at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management of Northwestern University. He has spoken at the Chicago Association Law Symposium on legal issues involving the Internet and was a member of the faculty of the 34th Annual Corporate Counsel Institute sponsored by the Northwestern University School of Law. He lectured on the subject of “Protecting Your Intellectual Property” at the “Crossing International Borders” conference sponsored by the Illinois Department of Economic Development. He has lectured in London, England on the subject of the “Copyright Restoration Act in the North American Free Trade Area”, and presented to the Licensing Executives Society seminars on the subjects of copyright restoration and management of intellectual property issues in corporate transactions.
