Sidley’s largest office traces its origins back to 1866. For 150 years, the firm has grown with the city, and remains one of the largest and most respected law offices in Chicago. More than 500 lawyers in the Chicago office work on a broad range of litigation, transactional and regulatory matters to meet the needs of our diverse client base.
Our Chicago office has committed substantial resources to the community and a variety of pro bono activities. In addition to an extensive commitment to death penalty and asylum cases, we were principal outside counsel to the Chicago 2016 Exploratory Committee, the not-for-profit entity established to represent the City of Chicago in its bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Chicago lawyers serve on the boards of numerous universities, hospitals, museums and other civic and charitable organizations and devote more than 100,000 pro bono hours each year on a variety of important matters.
Community service is also woven into the fabric of the firm and for 30 years, Sidley has been involved with Kanoon Elementary School as part of an educational partnership with Chicago Public Schools' adopt-a-school program. The Chicago office sponsored and participated in Chicago Cares 25th annual Serve-A-Thon and more than 150 lawyers and staff helped to beautify a Chicago Public School on Chicago’s south side. The office sits in the heart of Chicago’s “Loop” business district nestled among some of the first modern skyscrapers and only blocks from the Chicago River, Millennium Park and shores of beautiful Lake Michigan.
