Veena K. Gursahani
VEENA K. GURSAHANI is a litigation associate in the Chicago office. Veena’s practice focuses on representing public and private companies, including real estate and accounting firms, hedge funds, and telecommunication corporations in complex, commercial litigation. Recent representative matters include class action litigation, antitrust litigation and employment litigation.
Veena has a wide range of litigation experience in both federal and state court, including taking and defending depositions, working with expert and fact witnesses, drafting substantive discovery and dispositive motions, representing clients in mediation and managing large-scale discovery.
Veena also has a broad pro bono practice, including representing incarcerated plaintiffs in Section 1983 matters and pro se plaintiffs as part of the Municipal Trial Program. Veena was a member of the legal team that negotiated a settlement on behalf of the Cabrini Green Local Advisory Council to ensure at least 1,800 units of public housing be built in Chicago’s Near North neighborhood. For her work on that landmark settlement, Veena received the 2015 Thomas H. Morsch Award for Pro Bono Achievement, the 2016 Seventh Circuit Bar Association Public Service and Pro Bono Award, and the 2016 Northern District of Illinois Excellence in Public Interest Service Award.
Prior to joining the firm, Veena practiced special education litigation at Health & Disability Advocates. She graduated from the University of Miami School of Law School, cum laude, where she received the Innovative Service Award for her work creating a Street Law program for incarcerated pregnant teenagers and served as managing editor of the Psychology, Public Policy & Law Journal.
