Energy Regulatory
Sidley has a diversified Energy practice, primarily involving regulation of the transportation, by pipeline, of natural gas, crude oil and petroleum products. Lawyers in our Energy Regulatory practice also represent clients with respect to the regulation and restructuring of the electric utility industry. We practice before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, state regulatory commissions, federal and state appellate courts, as well as the U.S. Departments of Transportation, Energy and State. Sidley lawyers represent major cross-border oil and gas pipeline projects with respect to all aspects of project development, federal and state permitting and right-of-way acquisition. We also assist clients in compliance matters and investigations related to federal statutes and regulations pertaining to energy. Further, we provide corporate, finance and regulatory due diligence advice with respect to the acquisition and disposition of energy assets.
