FRANK J. BROCCOLO joined the firm’s Litigation group in 2000, and is a partner in the Complex Commercial Litigation Practice. Mr. Broccolo has litigated commercial matters involving a variety of businesses, particularly in the areas of real estate, idea theft, defamation, privacy rights and publicity matters, and has recently begun litigating Proposition 65 matters. Mr. Broccolo is a contributing author for the last six years to the “Survey of Privacy and Related Claims Against the Media,” published by the Media Law Resource Center. He has also co-authored articles for other publications by the Media Law Resource Center, including an article in its December 2009 quarterly bulletin entitled “California’s Anti-SLAPP Statute – Can It Strike Idea Theft Claims?”

In 2009, Mr. Broccolo was part of a Sidley trial team that won an international arbitration on behalf of investors in the billion dollar-plus World Market Center, a large showroom and trade show complex in Las Vegas. After a two-month arbitration hearing, a unanimous three-member panel issued an award that restored the investors’ interests in the project and past distributions, ordered tens of millions of dollars of other monetary relief, and imposed sanctions of several hundred thousand dollars for spoliation of evidence and obstruction of discovery. In that hearing, Sidley was opposed by four significant law firms, including the heads of three national litigation practices.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Broccolo served as a law clerk to the Office of the Public Defender, San Francisco.
