General Obligations
Our firm has a significant history of providing advice with respect to the issuance of general obligation bonds to states, municipalities and special districts. A significant portion of our client base includes large school districts that look to our guidance through the complexities of local government, tax and securities law provisions governing municipal finance. Our lawyers assume a proactive role in all stages of general obligation bond issues, from authorization (including statute enactment and election) to post-issuance, including advising clients on the permitted uses of general obligation bond proceeds. We served as bond counsel on the $1.25 billion general obligation issue for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico that was named "The Deal of the Year" for 2001 by
The Bond Buyer, Inc. as the largest (at the time) forward delivery refunding.
