CHRISTOPHER M. LYONS is a member of the firm’s Energy Practice Group. Mr. Lyons regularly advises oil and petroleum products pipelines, electric utilities, and financial institutions involved in the energy industry. In his oil pipeline practice, Mr. Lyons has represented clients in litigated FERC proceedings, including proceedings related to the Trans Alaska Pipeline System and market-based rate proceedings. Additionally, Mr. Lyons frequently counsels pipeline companies on cost of service ratemaking, market-based rates, indexing, prorationing and other tariff policies, transportation contracts with shippers, and capacity expansions. Mr. Lyons has also represented clients in arbitrations arising from contract disputes concerning oil royalties and sales of liquefied natural gas.
In his electricity practice, Mr. Lyons concentrates on transactions involving acquisitions and dispositions of interests in FERC jurisdictional facilities, including applications to FERC for approval of such transactions under Section 203 of the Federal Power Act. Mr. Lyons has also assisted electricity clients in FERC enforcement and audit matters.
In March 2013, Mr. Lyons was named by Law360 as a “Rising Star” and one of the publications six energy lawyers under 40 to watch. In 2012, Mr. Lyons was recognized by Chambers USA as an up and coming lawyer in "Energy: Oil & Gas (Regulatory & Litigation)."
