GERALD J. MCGOVERN has been a partner in the San Francisco office since 1984. He practices in public finance with a focus on healthcare. Mr. McGovern has participated, either as bond counsel or underwriter’s counsel, in over 250 healthcare financings with transactions totaling more than $12 billion. He has provided representation for the sellers or purchasers in five hospital acquisitions, the bond trustee and bond insurers in connection with a defaulted bond issue and several hospitals and health systems in connection with interest rate swap transactions. Mr. McGovern has also participated in a wide variety of non-healthcare financings, including housing, utilities and ports, and has advised a major investment banking firm in the development of primary and secondary market derivative products. Mr. McGovern has been recognized each year in The Best Lawyers in America in Public Finance Law from 2007-2012.
