Samuel R. Miller Joins Sidley Austin LLP as Litigation Partner

San Francisco – Sidley Austin LLP has announced that Samuel R. Miller has joined the firm as a litigation partner in its San Francisco office. Miller will focus his practice on antitrust and commercial litigation.

Miller has extensive experience as an antitrust trial lawyer having served as lead trial lawyer in one of the government’s largest antitrust cases. Miller also has considerable experience in securities litigation and white collar matters.

“Sam is a well respected and highly effective litigator whom we have long admired and seen in action on important cases,” said Mike Kelley, head of Sidley’s Los Angeles litigation practice and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. “His experience in a range of litigation areas will strengthen and complement not only our West Coast litigation practice, but our practice throughout the firm.”

“Sidley offers a global platform for my practice,” said Miller. “This is a rare opportunity to join a truly international firm and work with colleagues I have known for many years here in California. This is an exciting moment for me.”

Miller received his J.D. from U.C. Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law in 1975 and his B.A. from Yale University in 1971. Miller is extremely active in the San Francisco legal community. He serves on the board of the East Bay Community Law Center, the largest low income legal services provider in the Oakland/Berkeley area. Miller is an adjunct faculty member at Boalt Hall, teaching a seminar on antitrust in high-technology markets.

Sidley has more than 700 lawyers that are engaged in litigation or related dispute resolution activities and a substantial number of lawyers in our domestic and foreign offices that practice in the antitrust field. Lawyers in the practice have experience in virtually all areas of civil and business-oriented criminal litigation, prosecuting and defending all forms of claims in federal and state trial and appellate courts across the country. In addition, Sidley handles arbitrations and other alternate dispute resolution procedures of all types conducted under the auspices of the AAA, JAMS and others.

Sidley Austin LLP is one of the world's largest full-service law firms, with more than 1,700 lawyers practicing in 15 U.S. and international cities including Beijing, Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. In 2006, Sidley was named to Legal Business’ Global Elite, their designation for "the 15 finest law firms in the world." Sidley was again named the number one law firm for overall client service by BTI, a Boston-based consulting and research firm, in 2007. BTI has also named Sidley to their Client Service Hall of Fame as one of only two law firms to rank in the Client Service Top 10 for six years in a row.
