Notice Regarding Attempts to Misuse Sidley Austin's Name

The Firm has learned of instances where unauthorized parties have attempted to misuse the Firm's name in connection with what appear to be financial scams. One such situation has involved faxed offers, on forged letterhead, to purchase interests in time shares; these offers purportedly come from one of the Firm's offices, but contain a return fax number from a distant location. The Firm has no information on the details of how this apparent scheme actually works. Please be advised, however, that these messages are not genuine -- Sidley Austin LLP and its affiliated firms are not offering to purchase any interests in time shares or otherwise making unsolicited offers to engage in financial dealings with other parties. Without undertaking to provide legal or other advice to any recipients of such messages, the Firm notes that if you receive such a message you may consider reporting it to the criminal authorities in the jurisdiction in which you reside.
