MARKETA LINDT joined the firm in 1999. At Sidley, Ms. Lindt primarily advises employers on workforce strategy and visa processing for foreign national employees. Ms. Lindt counsels companies in defending against government workplace enforcement actions and developing policies to avoid employer sanctions. Ms. Lindt provides proactive immigration advice related to mergers, acquisitions and other corporate transactions. Ms. Lindt also provides immigration counsel to companies and individuals who are defendants in white-collar criminal proceedings. Ms. Lindt represents a range of clients, including U.S. and multinational corporations, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, non-profit organizations and high net-worth individuals.
Ms. Lindt graduated with a Juris Doctor and a Masters in International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh in 1994, Order of the Barrister. In 2001, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) presented Ms. Lindt with its national Joseph Minsky Young Lawyers Award, an annual award given to an attorney who has made significant contributions to the field of immigration law.
Ms. Lindt is actively involved in national advocacy efforts to change our laws and regulations so that they better serve U.S. employers who need foreign national workers to fill critical positions. She has appeared a number of times on television, radio and print regarding developments in immigration law. She serves in an advisory capacity to several cultural institutions and community organizations in the Chicago area. Ms. Lindt regularly speaks at national and regional conferences and has written a number of articles on immigration law and practice.
Who's Who Legal: Illinois, a directory of leading Illinois lawyers, has listed Ms. Lindt as one of the foremost corporate immigration attorneys in Illinois and nationally in every edition since its inaugural 2006 edition. Ms. Lindt is also named as a leading corporate immigration attorney worldwide in the International Who's Who of Business Lawyers.
