Sidley’s Structured Finance and Securitization practice is one of the largest and most experienced in the world. Now numbering more than 250 worldwide, our securitization lawyers were there at the creation of the mortgage-backed securities market in the 1970s, the asset-backed and commercial paper conduit markets in the 1980s and the CMBS conduit market in the 1990s, and have been involved in virtually every other industry innovation. In a recent and characteristic confluence of global reach and structural innovation, our securitization and tax lawyers in London and New York acted for Washington Mutual in its first-of-its-kind (and EuroWeek’s 2006 Deal of the Year) U.S. law-governed European covered bond program.
