Considerable changes in the area of labor-management relations are on the horizon. Most significant, the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) may re-write the rules concerning union organizing by abandoning the secret ballot election and making it much easier for unions to organize—even in industries that have never seen much union organization before, including banks, service firms, and technology companies. In addition, the proposed “RESPECT” Act may increase the number of employees eligible for unionization.
Designed for in-house legal and human resources professionals, the seminar will address such issues as union-free policies, communications and education materials about unions for employees and supervisors, workplace structure and potential bargaining unit issues, proper benchmarking and ways to prevent employees from perceiving any need for a union.
