Partner Kara McCall and Associate Elizabeth Chiarello will discuss ethical issues that arise when in-house or outside counsel evaluate litigation risks and exposure. Topics will include “Corporate Miranda warnings,” the self-critical analysis privilege, other ethics and privilege issues involving early factual investigations and risk management relating to communications with absent class members.

All sessions will take place at the firm’s Chicago office. Sessions will also be made available via video webcast for those who cannot attend the in-person presentations.
Illinois requires that attorneys with last names starting with N-Z participate in 24 hours of MCLE approved programming by June 30, 2011. Four hours of the total must be accredited for Professional Responsibility. Sidley Austin LLP is an Accredited CLE Provider in Illinois, New York and California, and these sessions are designed in accordance with the requirements of those jurisdictions. Participation in these CLE events may be used to satisfy an attorney’s MCLE requirements in those states.
