Please join Sidley partners David Pritikin (Chair, Sidley Austin’s Global IP Litigation Practice) and Rick Cederoth, lead lawyers on the Microsoft trial team in Microsoft v. Motorola, for a discussion concerning recent litigation developments related to RAND commitments for standard essential patents and licensing.
Technology standard setting organizations have long relied on RAND commitments as essential to the development of technology interoperability standards. Individual licensing practices for standard essential patents, however, have varied and have become an increasingly frequent subject of significant litigation, including the recently concluded Seattle trial in Microsoft Corporation v. Motorola Mobility, et al. David and Rick will discuss the background and significant rulings in that case as well as other recent RAND case developments.
