On February 13, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is scheduled to release new cybersecurity standards as directed by President Obama. The NIST Cybersecurity Framework will provide guidelines to help protect critical infrastructure and digital assets owned and operated by the private sector. The NIST cybersecurity framework is certain to have an enormous impact on how all companies – including non-critical infrastructure businesses – address cyber risk, and how they will be held accountable through regulatory, contractual and legal channels. Financial firms and other business will be interested to understand how the new cybersecurity framework may relate to addressing the cyber risks they are facing.
Sidley Austin LLP’s Privacy, Data Security and Information Law practice group will be holding an informal discussion of the new NIST cybersecurity framework on Friday, February 14, at 8.30 AM, in our New York offices, and by remote access.
The discussion is intended to provide a first look at the NIST standards to help explain the new document, and to identify and address questions.
Breakfast and Coffee will be provided.
For those unable to join us in New York, remote access will be available.
