Global Developments Affecting the Derivatives Industry:
A Three Continent Workshop Focusing on Issues for the User Community
The derivatives market continues to adapt to global regulatory reforms that are changing the market in fundamental ways.
Many participants with international trading operations are affected not only by local regulatory changes, but also by changes in other jurisdictions that have extra-territorial effect, as well as by regulatory reforms affecting their trading counterparties.
In this three continent workshop, members of Sidley’s derivatives team from around the globe will focus on the changing paradigm and issues relating to end-users and other entities that will not be ‘Swap Dealers’ or ‘Major Swap Participants’ under the U.S. Dodd-Frank regime, or clearing members under the EU EMIR regime (collectively, the ‘User Community’) and the User Community’s dealer counterparties when transacting with the User Community.
In London, we will focus on implementation issues in respect of EMIR and will feature a discussion between Tom Springbett from the FCA and Matthew Dening and Leonard Ng from Sidley Austin LLP, along with an opportunity for the audience to ask questions. There will also be an update on recent developments in the U.S. from three of our U.S. based partners and how this is impacting the User Community and those who transact with them.
This invite is aimed at in-house counsel and compliance and operations professionals.
