Global Developments Affecting the Derivatives Industry:
A Three Continent Workshop Focusing on Issues for the User Community
The global derivatives market continues to adapt to local and offshore regulatory reforms that will change the market in fundamental ways.
Many participants with global trading operations are affected not only by local regulatory changes, but also changes in other jurisdictions that have extra-territorial effects, as well as regulatory changes affecting their trading counterparties.
In this three continent workshop, members of Sidley’s worldwide derivatives team will focus on the changing paradigm and issues unique to end-users and other entities that are not ‘Swap Dealers’ or ‘Major Swap Participants’ under the U.S. Dodd-Frank regime, or clearing members under the EU EMIR regime (collectively, the ‘User Community’) and dealer counterparties when transacting with the User Community.
At our New York event, attorneys from our London and U.S. based derivatives practices will address:
- Updates on the status of extra-territorial reach of global reforms and the status of substituted compliance.
- The SEF mandate and trends in swap execution.
- Update on the transition to central clearing in both the U.S. and in Europe.
- Update on recent developments under EMIR.
