Please join us for Recent Developments in “Disruptive Trading” in Futures Markets, a panel discussion on the impact of new rules on disruptive trading in futures, options and swaps following the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and several futures exchanges have implemented rules to address disruptive trading, which have significant implications for pooled investment vehicles, such as hedge funds and commodity pools. This panel will discuss these rules and recent trends in disruptive trading and related cases brought by the CFTC, futures exchanges and U.S. Attorneys’ Offices.
The panel of Sidley Austin LLP lawyers includes Scott Lassar, former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, who brings the unique perspective of having tried cases including the ADM price fixing case, for which Scott received the Department of Justice’s Distinguished Service award.
The panel also includes Sidley partner Geoff Aronow, a former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) General Counsel, Chief Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor in the SEC’s Office of International Affairs (OIA), and Director of Enforcement at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC); and counsel Lisa Dunsky, a former executive director and associate general counsel at CME Group Inc.
The panel will be moderated by Tom Cauley, who heads the Funds Litigation practice at Sidley and handles a wide variety of cases concerning securities, commodity futures, and derivative instruments.
