Having represented retailers for decades, Sidley has built a reputation for successfully handling complex and multidisciplinary transactional, regulatory and litigation matters spanning a range of legal areas. Our expansive experience in the retail industry, along with our lawyers’ frequent research and publication on industry trends, allows us to provide thoughtful advice for the myriad legal and business challenges that retail organizations face.
Sidley partner Amy Lally will be moderating a panel from 1:30 – 2:20 pm ET on Tuesday, October 20 titled “The Changing Legal Landscape of the Ninth Circuit: What it Means for Retailers and Business Disputes,” featuring fellow Sidley partner David Carpenter and Professor Arthur D. Hellman, Professor Emeritus of Law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law as panelists. The panel will review insights into the history of the Ninth Circuit, the changing meaning of “liberal” and “conservative” in the popular (and academic) characterization of judicial decisions, how a dramatic change in the composition of a large appellate court affects the court generally, whether, and if so, how the 10 judges confirmed during the current presidency may be characterized as “conservative,” and how these 10 new confirmees in particular may affect the resolution of constitutional and business issues in the West. On Thursday, October 22 from 3:30 – 4:20 pm ET, Sidley counsel Rebecca Grapsas will co-moderate a Retail Roundtable session on the topic of “Working with Boards of Directors thru Crisis.”
