Please join us for a virtual conversation about lessons learned from the historical and current treatment of race in the armed forces. Since President Truman's Executive Order in 1948, effectively ending segregation of the military branches, the U.S. armed forces have often been lauded for their commitment to equal opportunity and heralded as a model for race relations in American society more broadly. Our panelists will explore that claim, in both its successes and its challenges, as well as reflect on their leadership experience in navigating successful careers in the armed forces.
Discussion topics will include:
- The evolution of race relations in the armed forces and efforts to address issues of race relations and cultural divides.
- Achieving success in an organization where there are not many people who look like you.
- Developing trust amongst colleagues of different backgrounds and fostering mentorship relationships.
