Post-Brexit, there has been a lot of recent focus on whether the European Commission will make a decision on UK adequacy and allow the free flow of personal data from the EU to the UK. At the same time, the UK is still considering its own approach to international data flows in a post-Brexit world. This is set against a background of discussions between the U.S. and the EU on a possible Privacy Shield 2.0 and continuing fallout from the Schrems II decision which requires international data transfer assessments to be carried out.
Sidley, OneTrust DataGuidance, and Government speakers will analyze these issues and some of the latest developments on international data transfers.
We will consider these key questions:
- What is the latest on the UK Adequacy decision?
- What is the risk of legal challenges in the event of a UK Adequacy decision?
- How will the UK deal with international transfers in a post Brexit world?
- What are the odds of a new Privacy Shield 2.0 emerging post Schrems II?
