Sidley is involved in some of the most significant projects currently underway in Mongolia. Our team is well versed in the policy and legal frameworks impacting the implementation of large-scale initiatives, including those anticipated to involve major foreign investment. We have reviewed the relevant new laws concerning foreign investment in Mongolia and the Parliamentary Orders supporting a number of proposed projects. Our lawyers have prepared, reviewed and presented RFPs and tenders for major contracting assignments in compliance with Mongolian tendering rules. We have also drafted concession agreements, joint venture documents, technical and financial consultancy agreements and engineering, procurement and construction contracts.
Understanding the Landscape
Sidley has acted on behalf of Mongolian state-owned and private companies, investors, international companies, private equity funds and international banking institutions. Our lawyers currently serve as lead legal advisors in several major transactions in Mongolia. You may view a list of representative matters in the Experience section below.
Sidley maintains close relationships with top law firms in key jurisdictions where the firm does not have an office. This is also true in Mongolia, where we work with locally qualified lawyers who have a wealth of experience in both the public and private sector. Those practitioners have been involved in the drafting and review of several key laws and policies on public private partnerships (PPP), concessions and foreign investments in Mongolia—laws and policies that today impact critical industries in Mongolia, including energy and infrastructure. We take pride in our relationships with local lawyers who share our firm’s approach of working collaboratively to provide seamless advice to clients.
