Washington, D.C. – Sidley is pleased to announce that Carrie Mahan has joined the firm’s Antitrust and Consumer Protection practice in Washington, D.C. Ms. Mahan joins Sidley from Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP where she was an antitrust litigator as well as a corporate counselor and risk advisor. She is ranked in Chambers USA as a DC Antitrust: Litigation Specialist and was included in the highly selective Global Competition Review on its “Women of Antitrust 2021” list.
As one of the world’s accomplished leaders in antitrust and competition law, Ms. Mahan advises global companies on antitrust and consumer protection issues in both government investigations by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Department of Justice (DOJ), and State Attorneys General and in private litigation in state and federal courts around the country. With a particular focus on nationwide antitrust class actions, she has led joint defense groups and the overall strategy on seminal cases across multiple sectors, including consumer products, hospitality, and private equity.
“Carrie and I have known each other throughout our careers. She has developed a boardroom antitrust practice that fits well with our client base,” said Yvette Ostolaza, Sidley’s Management Committee Chair and Executive Committee Member. “She is highly valued by her clients and trusted to successfully guide them to favorable outcomes in a wide-range of antitrust areas, including regulatory inquiries, investigations, and transactional matters.”
“When we had the opportunity to attract a high-caliber lawyer like Carrie to our Antitrust and Consumer Protection practice, we jumped at the chance,” said Kristin Graham Koehler, managing partner of the Washington, D.C. office, a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, and a global co-leader of the firm’s White Collar: Government Litigation and Investigations group. “The growth in enforcement actions by both the FTC and DOJ and in antitrust class actions will continue to fuel the expansion of our practice.”
