The M&A Advisor honored Sidley at the 11th Annual International M&A Awards with its “Private Equity Deal of the Year (Over $1B)” award for the sale of Callcredit to TransUnion. The awards recognize the leading international transactions, firms, individuals, products and services from around the world for “excellence in international M&A dealmaking.”
Sidley advised TransUnion, a U.S. consumer credit reporting company, on its acquisition of Callcredit, the second largest credit reference business in the UK, from private equity house GTCR for £1 billion. This transaction was particularly notable due to Sidley’s representation of a sophisticated corporate purchaser buying from a private equity house. Sidley was able to bring its depth of experience across both blue-chip private equity, corporate M&A and tax to deliver a successful transaction: the team’s familiarity with the market and commercial expectations of the private equity seller were key.
The Sidley team was led by Thomas Thesing, Sava Savov, Michelle Tong and Priya Rupal. The multi-office team included Seth Katz, Leonard Ng, Rachpal K. Thind, Susan Fanning, William Long, James Crooks, Oliver Currall, Patrick Harrison, Andrew Fox, Martin Membery, Jennifer Coplan and counsel Scott Goldstein and Jade Williams-Adedeji. The team also included associates Zoe Woodhouse, Peter Mabe, Andrew Cebula, Peter McCorkell, Francesca Blythe, William Gwyn, Nils Gravenhorst, Jason Menzies, Oliver Rosshandler, Monika Zdzieborska, Jack Roxburgh, Samantha Walker and Jack Mayall.
