The District of Columbia Bar honored Sidley as the co-recipient of the “2019 Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year” award at the Celebration of Leadership: The D.C. Bar Awards Dinner and Annual Meeting on June 11. The award recognizes Sidley’s outstanding commitment to pro bono service. Sidley’s D.C. office devoted 33,758 hours of our total billable hours to pro bono service. The firm also had the highest total pro bono hours completed by lawyers across all firm nominees.
Sidley is acknowledged for leading the law firm pro bono community in several impactful ways, including helping the Family Court of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia design and launch a pro bono panel.
Our D.C. office is particularly proud of the pro bono services it provides to address the critical legal needs of our neighbors and neighborhoods through our partnership with the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center. Together we have prevented vulnerable families from eviction and homelessness; protected the best interests of children as their parents battle for custody; secured benefits for those who otherwise would have no income for food, shelter or clothing; and created, strengthened and expanded the capacity of nonprofits to fulfill their missions.
The D.C. Bar’s annual “Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year” award is presented to a firm for its excellence, achievement, and commitment to providing legal services to the District's low income or disadvantaged individuals or organizations serving such individuals.
