Billboard named Rollin Ransom to its 2020 “Top Music Lawyers” list. The annual list profiles the stellar lawyers in the music industry. Rollin was praised by Billboard for representing Warner Music Group in a claim brought by Tower of Power singer Lenny Williams challenging the calculation of royalties attributable to foreign streaming. Also cited was his ongoing representation of Universal Music Group in a putative class action involving Section 203 of the Copyright Act, under which artists can seek to reclaim ownership of their master recordings.
Rollin serves as co-leader of Sidley’s global Commercial Litigation and Disputes practice. He is managing partner of the Los Angeles office and also head of the Greater Los Angeles Litigation group. Representing both individuals and corporations, Rollin has extensive experience prosecuting and defending lawsuits involving a wide variety of intellectual property claims, including copyright and theft of idea, trademark, false advertising, trade secret, and unfair competition actions.
