The National Law Journal (NLJ) named partner Laurence S. Kirsch to its 2020 list of “Washington, D.C. Trailblazers,” which profiles the leading lawyers in the Washington, D.C. area.
NLJ lauded Larry for obtaining significant court rulings on environmental matters. He received praise for securing the first-ever reversal of a decision by the Environmental Protection Agency to place a site on its Superfund National Priorities List and for his work in creating a trust mechanism to allow parties in bankruptcy to resolve their environmental liabilities and thereby achieve successful reorganization.
Larry is partner in Sidley’s Environmental practice group who focuses on environmental negotiation and litigation, emphasizing large contaminated sites, sediment sites, and complex environmental enforcement proceedings. He brings his combined background in science and law to his practice, which includes matters that have involved air, surface water, groundwater, hazardous waste, sediments, toxic substances regulation, and indoor air quality, among other issues.
