The Dealmaker Quarterly recognized three Sidley partners in their respective practice areas in its third annual “Top Women in Dealmaking” list. The annual special supplement showcases women lawyers “shattering the glass ceiling” in M&A through their extraordinary work. Recognized Sidley lawyers include:
- Beth E. Berg — Activism
- Sharon R. Flanagan — M&A
- Jennifer C. Hagle — Restructuring
Beth was selected for advising leading biopharma MiMedx in two concomitant fights for seats on the company’s board, obtaining unprecedented SEC relief allowing MiMedx to hold its annual shareholders’ meeting without current audited financial statements.
The Deal chose Sharon for successfully guiding major life sciences companies in their acquisitions, including in cutting-edge areas like gene sequencing and precision diagnostics.
Jennifer was cited for advising MUFG Union Bank, N.A. as administrative agent on Chesapeake Energy Corporation’s $3 billion prepetition RBL facility, $925 million debtor-in-possession facility, and $2.5 billion exit facility in its Chapter 11 cases – one of the largest-ever oil and gas deals to file bankruptcy.
