Law.com, publisher of UK Legal Week, named Fatema Orjela and Lyndsey Laverack to its 2021 “Rising Stars: The UK's Best Up and Coming Female Lawyers” list. The supplement celebrates the career accomplishments of the top 25 women lawyers under 40 in the UK.
Fatema is an award-winning private equity partner whose practice focuses on providing strategic counsel to European and U.S. private equity sponsors. She has pan-European experience on a range of private equity matters including acting on leveraged buyouts, strategic mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, structured and minority equity investments, restructurings, and management equity plans, in each case, across a range of sectors. Fatema is London chair of Sidley’s global Committee on the Retention and Promotion of Women.
Lyndsey is a Corporate/Private Equity partner who focuses her practice on cross-border M&A. Although she maintains a broad Corporate practice, she has a particular interest in the real estate sector and has significant experience in this industry. She has advised on acquisitions and disposals of development projects (both forward fund and forward sale) and standing assets, joint ventures, and asset management and operational arrangements across a wide range of asset classes including logistics, hospitality, senior living, student housing, and offices. Lyndsey spent 9 months on secondment to KKR’s Real Estate team in 2019.
