Daily Journal has named San Francisco partner Mike Bettinger to its 2021 “Top Intellectual Property Lawyers” list. This is the third consecutive year that he has been included in the special supplement, which annually recognizes lawyers in California for their work on recent significant cases that had an impact on the larger world of intellectual property.
Daily Journal highlighted his representation of major technology companies such as Amazon.com Inc., Microsoft Corp., LinkedIn Corp., and Adobe Systems Inc. The publication cited his representation of Amazon against SpeedTrack Inc. in a patent infringement case that has continued for 12 years. Most recently, the District Court entered a judgment of non-infringement, and the case is on appeal the Federal Circuit for the third time. Daily Journal further commended him on representing Adobe and its Magento unit, Microsoft, LinkedIn, and Dropbox in a separate law suits brought by Express Mobile Inc. In a novel move, Mike and the Sidley team successfully persuaded Express Mobile to refile the Dropbox case in the Northern District of California as opposed to the Western District of Texas where it was originally filed.
Mike is a partner in Sidley’s San Francisco office and heads the firm’s West Coast IP Litigation practice. Mike is a leading national trial lawyer for patent and intellectual property cases. He has tried 25 cases to verdict, securing notable jury trial wins in federal courts throughout the U.S. for premier technology companies in the telecommunications, computer, software, semiconductor, and healthcare industries.
