Sidley is proud to join the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and six of the world’s other top firms in a new groundbreaking endeavor for HRC to bring strategic impact litigation to combat LGBTQ anti-equality activists at home and abroad. The alliance is designed to pursue strategic cases that will help shape state and federal laws, regulations and policies and the application of constitutional principles.
In addition to Sidley, HRC will work with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, BakerHostetler, Linklaters, Steptoe & Johnson LLP, and Winston & Strawn for domestic litigation and global law firm Clifford Chance for international litigation. This historic effort will complement the organization’s ongoing legal work and partnerships with other legal and civil rights groups.
“We’re looking forward to working with the Human Rights Campaign on strategic litigation that will take on discriminatory measures targeting LGBTQ people. HRC is a long-standing pro bono client and this next stage of collaboration reinforces Sidley’s deep commitment to advocating for diversity and equality” said Carter Phillips, partner at Sidley.
