This Sunday, July 26, 2020, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) celebrates its 30th anniversary. Sidley is proud to commemorate this groundbreaking civil rights victory that prohibits discrimination and guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else to participate fully in employment opportunities, education, athletics, and all other aspects of American life.
Sidley is dedicated to instilling a strong disability inclusive culture within the firm. We are a signatory to the ABA Commission on Disability Rights’ Pledge for Change, reaffirming our commitment to recruiting, retaining and advancing lawyers with disabilities.
Sidley’s Disability Diversity Alliance (DDA) is a driving force behind many of our initiatives. In just three years since its establishment, the DDA has spearheaded a number of firm improvements, including helping to bring the firm’s website into compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, improving physical accessibility across our offices, and raising awareness and education concerning invisible disabilities and other mental health matters.
We invite you to learn more about Sidley’s Disability Inclusion Initiatives. We are also proud to feature “Sidley’s Stories: Reflections on the ADA at 30,” a short collection of inspiring and heartfelt tributes from our firm lawyers on the personal impact of the ADA.
