Jennifer’s practice principally focuses on representing holders of senior secured, mezzanine and subordinated debt in both public and private middle market and large cap deals. Jennifer’s clients include banks, hedge funds and other financial institutions in a wide range of industries, including aviation, media, oil and gas, clean energy (ethanol and biofuels), coal and natural gas, technology, internet gaming, retail and restaurants, healthcare, hospitality, real estate and for-profit higher education. In addition to her strong bankruptcy and restructuring knowledge, Jennifer also has significant experience in the area of corporate finance, having represented a number of lenders and borrowers with respect to loan originations and merger and acquisition transactions in non-distressed deals.
In 2017, Jennifer was named a fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers (ACCFL). The American College of Bankruptcy named Jennifer as a fellow for the class of 2015 and as a regent for the Ninth Circuit in 2020. Jennifer is also a contributing author of Collier’s Bankruptcy Practice Guide.

- MUFG Union Bank, N.A., as administrative and collateral agent for a $3 billion prepetition RBL facility and $925 million new money DIP financing loan and agent and lead arranger on a fully committed $2.5 billion multi-tranche exit facility in connection with the Chesapeake Energy chapter 11 cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas
- Credit Suisse, as administrative and collateral agent with respect to a US$200 million senior secured syndicated facility issued to international IT and business solutions leader Global Knowledge in an out-of-court restructuring transaction valued in excess of US$1.3 billion, in which a special purpose acquisition (SPAC) company will merge with digital learning pioneer Skillsoft to acquire Global Knowledge
- MUFG Union Bank, N.A., as administrative and collateral agent for a US$400 million borrowing base revolving facility in connection with The Weinstein Company chapter 11 cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware
- An affiliate of MetLife Insurance Company (MetLife), as Owner Participant in connection with the First Energy Solutions chapter 11 cases currently pending in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio. MetLife is owed amounts in connection with certain leverage lease transactions involving a power plant, including amounts arising under certain tax indemnity agreements. The Debtors commenced their chapter 11 cases to restructure approximately $3.8 billion in outstanding funded debt obligations.
- Credit Suisse, as administrative/collateral agent for a US$50 million cash flow facility and collateral agent for a US$1.1 billion senior secured bond facility, in connection with the Verso Corporation/NewPage Corporation chapter 11 cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware
- Credit Agricole – Corporate Investment Bank, in connection with their investments in various coal mining facilities and natural gas plants, both in Chapter 11 and out of court, including Peabody Energy Corporation and Foresight Energy
- Credit Suisse, as administrative agent to the first lien lenders, in connection with the successful out-of-court restructuring of a US$240 million senior secured facility and US$140 million junior lien facility issued to Edmentum, Inc., a leading provider of online learning solutions

Jennifer joined the firm in 1987 and is a member of the Executive Committee. She is also a firmwide co-chair of SidleyWomen.
Jennifer is a member of the Women’s Leadership Council, American Bar Association, Business Law Section, Financial Lawyers Conference and is Past Chair, California State Bar Insolvency Law Committee. She also serves on the UCLA Communication Studies Department Board of Visitors and the UC Hastings College of the Law Board of Trustees. Jennifer is very active with the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. She is on the Board of Directors, serving as secretary to the Board, and is a member of the Corporate Governance Committee.
Jennifer served as a judicial extern to former Chief Justice Malcolm M. Lucas of the California Supreme Court.
