VALERIA JOSE IFARRAGUERRI’s practice focuses mainly on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity, cross-border transactions, and foreign investment. Prior to joining Sidley, Valeria was an associate at a well-known leading full-service corporate law firm in Mexico City where she participated on a variety of representative and complex matters and transactions across multiple industries. While in law school, Valeria worked as a part-time law clerk at a boutique Mexican law firm specializing in corporate and mining law.
Valeria is licensed to practice law in Mexico, New York, and Texas. She attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she obtained her LL.M. (Master of Laws) and Business and Law Certificate from the Wharton School. She also participated in the “Executive Finance Program” at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and in the “RISE – Resilient, Inspired, Strategic, Empowered” program at the Leadership Academy for Women in Law of Fordham University School of Law. Valeria received her law degree (Licenciada en Derecho) from the Universidad Anáhuac México (Anahuac) where she earned the “Academic Excellence Prize” in 2014 and 2016 for ranking among the top five students at the law school. While in law school, Valeria was selected by Anahuac Law School to participate at the Phillip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition in 2012 and also worked as a research assistant of the Anahuac Research Center for Human Rights.
Valeria was granted the Ceneval Award for “EGEL-Excellence Performance” in 2016 by the National Center for Education Evaluation, earned by less than 1.5% of the national test-takers of the General Exam for the Obtention of a Degree (EGEL, Examen General para el Egreso de la Licenciatura).
She was previously a professor of business and law at ITAM and professor of Legal English at Anahuac Law School.
