JADE LI TAI LEONG’s areas of practice include securitization, structured finance, and general finance matters.
Jade has experience advising on a wide range of structured finance transactions with particular emphasis on commercial real estate transactions. She acts for both lenders and sponsors on commercial mortgage lending and development financing transactions. Her work also involves advising arrangers, originators, and investors on the structuring and restructuring of structured finance transactions across a range of asset classes, structures, and jurisdictions, as well as advising investment funds in connection with the acquisition and restructuring of nonperforming loans held by or originated by European banks.
Jade has acted for arrangers, investors, servicers, and rating agencies in relation to various types of securitization transactions, including commercial mortgage-backed securitizations, synthetic securitizations, and nonperforming loan portfolio transactions. She also has experience acting for private equity sponsors in leveraged finance transactions, refinancings, and general banking arrangements.
Additionally, Jade has been involved in a wide variety of cross-border transactions in the debt capital markets and restructuring areas. She has experience of acting for arrangers and dealers on a wide range of capital markets transactions, notably on large EMTN programmes where the notes are listed on various global exchanges.
As a junior lawyer, Jade worked on transactions adversely affected by the financial crisis and, in particular, the insolvency of the Lehman group in assisting with claims arising from various underlying agreements, including notes, derivatives, and warrants. She was part of the Sidley team that was successful in a claim against Lehman in the High Court.
Jade trained as a solicitor in Sidley’s office in London where she gained experience in financial services regulatory, global finance, capital markets, and competition.
