JOEL MACKLER is an associate in the firm’s Chicago office and a member of the firm’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice.
Joel earned his J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law, where he served as executive symposium editor on the Northwestern Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property. While attending law school, Joel served as both a formal and informal leader, and during his 2L year he won the Harold Washington Leadership Award. Joel is especially proud of his work on the writing team for the Wigmore Follies revue.
Before joining Sidley, Joel was a Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) Graduate Fellow at the Loyola Federal Tax Clinic, where he represented low-income taxpayers in controversies with the Internal Revenue Service. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a system administrator for Linux servers, having received a B.S. in Computer Science, magna cum laude, from Duquesne University. Joel’s love of solving technical problems is currently sated by the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, and accompanying regulations.
