COURTNEY OKWARA devotes her practice to advising her clients in navigating complex commercial litigation and turbulent investigations and regulatory matters. Highlights of her work include successfully defending a deposition against the Securities & Exchange Commission, challenging the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and investigating potential FCPA violations in the Global East. Her clients range from multinational banks and corporate entities in the EMEA regions to individual New York City pro bono clients.
Prior to joining Sidley, Courtney was a civic sector consultant advising cities, foundations, and local governments on how to implement their regional and national programs and effectively measure their results.
Courtney received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she served as an editor of the Moot Court Board and as the Spring 2021 Marden Problem Writer. Courtney also served as the leadership chair in the Women of Color Collective and as a contracts teaching assistant.
She possesses intermediate fluency in Korean.
