ANNA PAVLOU advises corporate clients and trade associations on legal and regulatory aspects of the marketing of health products, food and feed, cosmetics and other consumer goods. Her practice focuses on advising on and co-ordinating European and global multi-jurisdictional regulatory and enforcement matters affecting the pharmaceutical, medical device, food and cosmetics industries, ranging from government authority inspections to product recalls.
In particular, Anna has experience with regard to pharmacovigilance, clinical trials, marketing authorization procedures, good manufacturing practice (GMP), advertising and promotional issues, as well as product safety, product recall procedures and life-cycle management. She has significant experience developing, implementing and assessing corporate compliance programs for pharmaceutical, medical device, food and cosmetics companies. In addition, Anna frequently conducts due diligence and related counseling in connection with life sciences industry transactions.
She also advises on social media and data protection matters, including on data privacy, and consumer and social media regulation.
In addition, Anna is responsible for advising on the legal aspects of EU policy developments in the field of pharmaceutical, food and consumer law. She is a regular speaker and publishes regularly on these topics.
In 2014, Anna co-founded the Women’s Life Sciences Network (WLSN), an international networking group established for female life sciences regulatory professionals.
Prior to joining Sidley, Anna gained six years of regulatory and legal experience in the above issues at the European Parliament and the European Commission. During a three-year term in the European Commission’s Directorate General for Health and Consumers, she was responsible for developing policy and managing legislation in the area of Public Health, and in particular substances of human origin (blood, tissues and cells and organs) and advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs). Before that, Anna undertook her internship to the Greek Bar.
In Chambers Europe 2019, clients state that Anna is “very client-oriented” and offers “very deep knowledge of the consumer goods industry.” The 2018 edition notes that she is “very efficient and managed the case and different parties well.” In addition, Anna featured in Chambers Europe 2017 with clients commenting that she has “great technical and subject matter expertise,” and provides “fantastic client support and [is] extremely practical in the issues presented to her.” Anna also features among the “Rising Stars – Life Sciences” of Legal Media Group’s Expert Guides 2019.
