• Walmart in its US$16 billion acquisition of a 77% stake in Flipkart, India’s biggest e-commerce platform. The deal is the largest acquisition of an e-commerce company in the world.
• One97 Communications Limited, operator of Paytm, India’s biggest mobile wallet company, on:
  • an investment by Alipay and Alibaba, for US$750 million, and commercial contracts between One97, Alibaba, and Alipay, being Alibaba’s entry in the payments and e-commerce space in India. The deal won the “Deal of the Year” award in the IFLR Asia Awards 2015;
  • an investment of US$1.4 billion by Softbank;
  • an investment of US$300 million by Berkshire Hathaway;
  • the spin-off of its e-commerce business to Paytm E-Commerce Private Limited and its wallet business to Paytm Payments Bank Limited; and
  • the formation of a joint venture with AGTech Holdings Limited, an investment of US$15 million to create an online gaming company in India, and Alibaba’s entry in the online gaming market in India.
• Paytm E-Commerce Private Limited in relation to an investment of US$450 million by SoftBank.
• Vodafone India Limited in its US$60 million acquisition of YOU Broadband, a pan-India broadband service provider.
• Bharti Airtel Limited, India’s biggest telecom operator, in relation to its acquisition of Augere Wireless Broadband Private Limited, a telecom company holding broadband spectrum in multiple telecom circles in India.
• Sembcorp Green Infra Limited and IDFC PE in relation to the restructuring of Sembcorp and the sale of IDFC PE’s stake in Green Infra Limited, a renewables company gestated by IDFC PE, for US$220 million.
• AirBnB in its US$50 million investment in Oyo, the world’s third-largest hospitality chain of leased and franchised hotels, homes, and living spaces.
• Amazon in its US$22.5 million investment in Capital Float, a digital lending platform.
• Maverick Capital in relation to an investment of US$11 million in Vserv Digital Services Private Limited, a leading SaaS provider in India.
• Rabobank in its US$15 million venture capital investment in Parijat Industries Private Limited, a leading agrochemicals manufacturing company in India.
• Blackstone in its US$250 million acquisition and subsequent sale of two seaplane businesses in the Maldives.
• Temasek on:
  • its US$60 million investment in Zomato Media Private Limited, India’s largest restaurant aggregator; and
  • its US$75 million investment in Devyani International Limited, a company engaged in the food and beverage business.
• ShopUp, a full stack digital commerce and lending platform for SMEs in Bangladesh, on:
  • its US$34 million series B extension funding round from Tiger Global, Valar Ventures, Prosus (Naspers), Veon Technologies, Lonsdale Capital, and Flourish Ventures;
  • its US$75 million series B funding from Valar Ventures, Prosus (Naspers), Sequoia Capital, Veon Technologies, Lonsdale Capital, and Flourish Ventures. This transaction was the biggest series B round in Southeast Asia in the B2B segment; and
  • its US$22.5 million series A funding from Surge Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Veon Technologies, Flourish Ventures, SpeedInvest, and Lonsdale Capital. This transaction was the biggest series A round in Bangladesh.
• Holmusk, a leading global data science and digital health company building the world’s largest Real-World Evidence platform for behavioral health, in its acquisition of Otsuka Health Solutions, a UK-based mental health, predictive analytics provider.
• Axie Infinity, the developer of a decentralized turn-based strategy game, in its series A fundraising of US$7.5 million and series B fundraising of US$152 million. The participating investors included funds associated with Andreesen Horowitz; Paradigm; Accel; billionaire investor and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban; venture capital funds Libertus Capital, 500 Startups, Collab+Currency, DeFi Alliance, and CoinGecko Ventures; game developer and publisher Animoca Brands; co-founder of Reddit Alexis Ohanian; and President and COO of 100 Thieves (one of the world’s most valuable esports companies) John Robinson.
• nCinga, developer of a factory automation solution using a cloud-based IoT platform, and its founders in Zilingo’s acquisition of nCinga for US$15.5 million comprising cash and shares.
• Cyfirma, a leading cyber threat detection platform and solutions provider, and its founder on:
  • the restructuring of the Antuit Group, developer of AI-powered cloud solutions for retail and consumer goods, with the objective of segregating the cyber security business from the data analytics business of the Antuit Group and housing it in the Cyfirma Group; and
  • an investment by Goldman Sachs and Zodius Capital.
• Verge Healthtech Fund, the world’s first health-tech focused seed stage venture capital fund, on:
  • its portfolio venture capital investment in Akuos, developer of eyeglasses with integrated bone conductive hearing aids and other destigmatizing assistive devices for use in human health; and
  • its portfolio venture capital investment Mobio, developer of digital therapeutics in the field of neuroscience.
• Affable.ai, an influencer marketing platform, in its series A financing from Seabright, SGInnovate, and Decacorn Capital.
• The Yield Lab Asia Pacific Fund, an AgTech fund and accelerator, in its portfolio venture capital investments in several agri-tech start-ups in India, Singapore, Malaysia, and Myanmar.
• Kristal.ai, a digital private wealth platform, in its series A fundraising from Chiratae Ventures, Desai Family Office, and other HNIs.
• Sequoia Capital and ShopUp in Sequoia’s investment in ShopUp and ShopUp’s acquisition of Voonik, an online marketplace operating in products for women’s fashion, pursuant to the investment by Sequoia.
• Idem Labs, a technology platform for cloud-based group reservations software for hotels and event organizers, in the sale of all its assets to Groups360.
• Bahwan State Trading LLC, a major dealer and manufacturer of auto parts in Oman, in its strategic investment in a major lithium-ion batteries and power trains manufacturer in India.
• Rynan Fertilisers, developer of smart farming solutions and fertilizers in Vietnam, in its strategic collaboration with, and investment by, Sojitz Corporation.
