DR. PATRICK SCHULZ advises companies, investors, sponsors and secured and unsecured creditors on financial and operational restructurings both outside and in the context of insolvency proceedings. He focuses on cross-border and multinational restructurings and distressed transactions, in particular in cases involving complex financing structures. He also advises on all aspects of German insolvency and restructuring law.
Prior to joining Sidley in 2017, Patrick was an associate in the banking/restructuring and insolvency practice of another international law firm.
While working on his Ph.D., Patrick served for several years as a research associate to the Chair of Civil and Civil Procedure Law at the University of Mainz. His thesis on debt-to-equity-swaps has been awarded with multiple awards for academic excellence. Furthermore, he taught at King’s College London and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as visiting lecturer.
