KRISTIN E. SHAFFER focuses her practice on merger control issues, particularly premerger notification, review and analysis under the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Antitrust Improvements Act. Kristin has advised on a wide variety of other antitrust topics, including integration planning, horizontal and vertical restraints, distribution agreements, joint ventures, trade associations and the Robinson-Patman Act.
Prior to joining Sidley, Kristin was an attorney in the Premerger Notification Office of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), where she concentrated on HSR compliance and initial antitrust review. Additionally, Kristin served as an attorney in the FTC’s Anticompetitive Practices Division, where she investigated a wide range of anticompetitive conduct. While at the FTC, Kristin received the Stephen Nye, Janet D. Steiger and Paul Rand Dixon awards, recognizing individual and team contributions to the agency.
