AKSHAY SOMAN graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law. While in law school, he was elected as the inaugural diversity, equity & inclusion officer and later as president of the Student Bar Association. Akshay also served as a senator in the Illinois Student Government, an Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 licensed law student in the Family Advocacy Clinic, and publicity editor of the University of Illinois Law Review. He was a finalist of the Frederick Green Moot Court Honorary Round competition in 2022 and received a Rickert Award for Excellence in Service.
Before law school, Akshay graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston where he interned at the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., and captained a nationally competitive dance troupe. Additionally, Akshay was a graduate of the University of Houston Law Center Pre-Law Pipeline Program in the summer of 2017 and has since served as a mentor to undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds with an interest in law. He also sits on the program’s admissions committee.
